Over the years, I have worked with a variety of technologies and domains, took many roles such as tech lead, team lead, solution architect and senior software engineer.

Since the beginning of my career as a software engineer I felt overwhelmed by the abundance of information in the industry. I tried to attack endless articles and news in an attempt to stay on top of things. Needless to say it was the game I couldn't win. Instead the fear of missing out contributed to anxiety.

Looking back I can tell it didn't need to be like that. I could have ignored the majority of the news without losing anything. In fact I would have saved my time. Clay Shirky puts it well: "There's no such thing as information overload. There's only filter failure."
